Beirut: Winning the 2019 AFC Cup is the dream for Al Ahed striker Ahmad Zreik after he helped his side secure qualification to the West Asia Zonal Semi-Finals with a 2-1 win over Malkiya Club on Monday.
The Lebanese side ended the group stage unbeaten and hit 14 points with the win at Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium to advance as Group C winners.
Zreik brought Al Ahed level in the 34th minute after Malkiya had taken the lead through Isa Abdulbari. A Khalil Khamis' header sealed the win for the hosts in the second half.

Beirut: Al Ahed reached the 2019 AFC Cup West Zonal Semi-Finals after coming from behind to secure a 2-1 victory against Malkiya Club on the final matchday of Group C on Monday.
The Lebanese side started on the front foot and had their first sight of goal within four minutes when Hussein Zein supplied a through ball for Mohammed Kdouh whose shot from a tight angle hit the side netting.
It was, however, the visitors from Bahrain who opened the scoring 10 minutes later. Sayed Mohamed advanced down the right and whipped a cross for Isa Abdulbari. The club captain rode highest to head home his third goal of the 2019 AFC Cup and put Malkiya in front.

Dhaka: When Chennaiyin FC play Abahani Limited Dhaka in the 2019 AFC Cup on Wednesday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, it will be the first time they will be playing away from India.
But for Anirudh Thapa, this is no unfamiliar territory. Last year, the youngster got to wear the captain’s armband in Dhaka at the SAFF Cup when he became the youngest player to take that responsibility. While it was a dream come true for the Dehradun boy, the dream didn’t end as he would have desired when India lost to Maldives in the final.

Kuala Lumpur: Asian football history will be made on Wednesday when Japanese referee Yoshimi Yamashita alongside assistant referees Makoto Bozono and Naomi Teshirogi become the first all-female cast to officiate an AFC Cup match between Myanmar’s Yangon United FC and Naga World of Cambodia at the Thuwunna Stadium.
This will be the first time three female referees officiate in the Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) club competitions, marking a new milestone in Asian refereeing.
The trio had to pass a demanding fitness test, matching the requirements for men officials before being selected and their appointment is a timely boost, as they are also part of 12 Asian match officials representing the AFC at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup France in June.
