Vietnam, Indonesia continue hot streak

Singapore: Vietnam and Indonesia were at full throttle as they secured wins on Matchday Three of the AFF Cup on Sunday.

Five different goalscorers found the back of the net in Indonesia’s 5-1 win over Laos to close in on a ninth appearance in the knockout stage. 

Defending champions Vietnam, meanwhile, beat Malaysia 3-0 to take the lead in Group B.

Doha: Hosts Qatar advanced to the FIFA Arab Cup 2021 semi-finals with an emphatic 5-0 win over United Arab Emirates at the Al Bayt Stadium on Friday.

Doha: Jordan's FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021 campaign came to an end after they fell 3-1 to Egypt, with extra-time needed to settle their quarter-final tie at the Al Janoub Stadium on Saturday.

Egypt will take on Tunisia, who defeated Oman 2-1 on Friday, in Wednesday's semi-final. 

The other last four tie will see reigning AFC Asian Cup champions Qatar playing Algeria, who advanced after defeating Morocco 5-3 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in their quarter-final on Saturday.

Kuala Lumpur: Australia will enter the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022 as the top ranked contender, while DPR Korea remain Asia’s highest ranked women’s national team, after the December update to the FIFA Women’s World Ranking was revealed on Friday.

With a victory over Brazil and draw with the world number one United States among their results since the previous update in August, the Matildas remain 11th in the world, one spot behind DPR Korea, who are not among the 12 teams to have qualified for next month’s continental Finals.
