Philippines back on track, Thailand stay hot

Singapore: The Philippines and Thailand were unstoppable on Matchday Three of the AFF Cup as they bagged impressive wins over Timor-Leste and Myanmar respectively on Saturday. 

Six first half goals laid the foundation for Philippines’ emphatic 7-0 win over Timor-Leste to revive their campaign. 

Teerasil Dangda was the star of the night as the Thai veteran scored twice, before Supachok Sarachat and Worachit Kanitsribumphen got into the goal scoring action to secure a 4-0 victory against Myanmar.

Daegu: Jeonnam Dragons made Korea Republic football history, defeating Daegu FC on Saturday to become the first second-division club to win the FA Cup final.

Jeonnam beat Daegu 4-3 in the second leg, clinching the title on away goals after the final ended 4-4 on aggregate.

In clinching their fourth FA Cup title, Jeonnam booked a spot in the group stage of the 2022 AFC Champions League, the first K League 2 club to qualify for the continent's top annual club competition.

Kuala Lumpur: Australia will enter the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022 as the top ranked contender, while DPR Korea remain Asia’s highest ranked women’s national team, after the December update to the FIFA Women’s World Ranking was revealed on Friday.

With a victory over Brazil and draw with the world number one United States among their results since the previous update in August, the Matildas remain 11th in the world, one spot behind DPR Korea, who are not among the 12 teams to have qualified for next month’s continental Finals.
