Vietnam impress against Singapore in opener

Phnom Penh: Vietnam kicked off their AFF U23 Championship 2022 campaign on an emphatic note, storming 7-0 past Singapore in their Group C tie at the Prince Stadium on Saturday.

The win means Vietnam only need to avoid defeat against Thailand on Tuesday to seal a place in the semi-finals.

Singapore's campaign, however, is over after having lost 3-1 to Thailand on Wednesday.

The result meant Ali Sanei’s side won all four of their matches at Bishkek’s Gazprom Arena, with several future stars announcing their arrival on the international stage with a series of blistering performances against their regional rivals.
