Qatar Football Association bestowed with inaugural AFC Asian Cup Host Appreciation Award

Seoul: Fresh off the heels of staging the most successful ever edition of Asia’s crown jewel, the Qatar Football Association (QFA) was honoured with the first-ever AFC Asian Cup Host Appreciation Award on Tuesday at the dazzling AFC Annual Awards Seoul 2023 in Korea Republic.

Lauded by the AFC President, Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, as Asian football’s finest hour and a tournament of ‘firsts’, the QFA, the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ Local Organising Committee and Qatari authorities were recognised for their outstanding efforts in setting a new benchmark of excellence for future editions to follow.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC), today, unveiled the first episode of ‘Beyond the Field’, a documentary series offering an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the roles and responsibilities of match officials at the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™.

Spanning five episodes, each focusing on a distinct aspect of refereeing at the continental showpiece, the documentary takes passionate fans of Asian football on a journey that provides a window into the mental and physical demands faced by match officials as they uphold the highest standards of officiating at the grandest edition of Asia’s crown jewel.

Mongolia won Tuesday’s second leg 2-0 but it was not enough to overturn the 4-1 first leg loss as Timor-Leste kept themselves in the hunt for a place at the continental showpiece.
