Kuala Lumpur: Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min opened his account for the new season in spectacular style as he struck a hat-trick to help Australian manager Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs defeat Burnley 5-2 in England’s Premier League on Saturday. 

Takefusa Kubo created history in La Liga as he surpassed former Eibar winger Takashi Inui to become the highest-scoring Japanese player in the Spanish top flight with 18 goals after scoring a brace in Real Sociedad’s 5-3 win against Granada over the weekend.

Former Spanish international Mata joins Vissel Kobe

Kobe: Midfielder Juan Mata, who was a member of Spain's 2010 FIFA World Cup winning squad, has signed for Japan's Vissel Kobe.

The J League side said Mata, 35, has joined them on a free transfer.

Riyadh: Cristiano Ronaldo scored once and made two assists as Al Nassr cruised to a 5-1 win over Al Hazm in a 2023/24 Saudi Pro League tie on Saturday.

It was the Portugal star's 850th career goal as Al Nassr registered their third consecutive win after having opened their season with two defeats.

Riyadh: A resilient Al Hilal SFC stormed to the top of the Saudi Pro League standings after edging defending champions Al Ittihad in a seven-goal thriller, as the battle for the title heats up with four teams locked in an exciting race.
