EAFF E-1 Football Championship – Women’s Preview

Kashima: Some of Asia’s finest teams will take to the field when the EAFF (East Asian Football Federation) E-1 Women’s Football Championship kicks off on Tuesday. 

A trio of continental powerhouses in Japan, Korea Republic and China PR will be expected to battle out for the right to be crowned regional champions, while Chinese Taipei are set to return for the third time. 

Ahead of the tournament opener between Japan and Korea Republic on Tuesday, the-AFC.com shines the spotlight on the quartet of sides.

EAFF E-1 Football Championship – Men’s Preview

Kashima: For the first time since 2019, the EAFF (East Asian Football Federation) E-1 Football Championship will return with four of the region’s top sides set to battle it out in the men’s round robin competition that kicks off on Tuesday.

The tournament, which was initially due to take place in 2021 but was postponed due to COVID-19, will see holders Korea Republic, hosts Japan, China PR and Hong Kong face off in the cities of Kashima and Toyota.

Manila: Head coach Alen Stajcic was full of praise for his side’s remarkable milestone after the Philippines beat Thailand 3-0 to lift their first-ever AFF Women’s Championship trophy on Sunday. 

After advancing from a tough Group A, Philippines stunned defending champions Vietnam 4-0 in the semi-finals.

Jessika Cowart, Katrina Guillou and Sarina Bolden then found the back of the net in a convincing win over four-time champions Thailand in the final, which came on the back of their bronze medal finish in the Hanoi SEA Games less than two months ago.
