India fall to Chile

Manaus: India suffered a 3-0 defeat to Chile in a women’s friendly in Brazil on Sunday. 

It was India’s second defeat, having fallen 6-1 to hosts Brazil last Friday, as they continue their preparations for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022 on home soil.

Goyang City: Korea Republic took a positive step in their build up to the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022, coming from behind to beat New Zealand in a friendly international at Goyang Stadium on Saturday.

The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup co-hosts looked like claiming an upset win when Jacqui Hand opened the scoring early, but an own goal from Meikayla Moore brought Colin Bell's side level before Lim Seon-joo headed home the winner with nine minutes remaining.
 
The match was the first of two friendlies between the sides this week, with a second fixture - also in Goyang - to be held on Tuesday.

Sydney: The United States continued their unbeaten streak against Australia, with the world champions registering a 3-0 win in front of an Australian record 36,109 fans on Saturday.

Ashley Hatch opened the scoring, and Australia squandered a litany of chances to equalise before Rose Lavelle and Lindsey Horan added to the Americans’ tally in the second half.
 
The match at Sydney’s Stadium Australia was the first of two between the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup winners and the 2023 co-hosts, with Newcastle to host a return game on Tuesday.

Asia's representative to face South American opposition in FIFA World Cup Intercontinental Playoff for Qatar 2022

Zurich: Asia's representative in the FIFA World Cup Intercontinental Playoff will have to navigate past a CONMEBOL side if the continent is to have a historic sixth representative in Qatar 2022.

The second Intercontinental Playoff following Friday's draw at FIFA's headquarters in Zurich will see CONCACAF squaring off against Oceania to earn a place in Qatar 2022.  

The two Intercontinental Playoffs will be single-leg ties and will take place on June 13 and 14, 2022.
