A total of 5,400 ultra-durable footballs have been distributed to the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) today as part of the Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) efforts to strengthen grassroots football and social development in the Southeast Asian nation. The ultra-durable One World Futbol never needs a pump and never goes flat, even when punctured.
The contribution by the AFC is part of collaborative efforts with the One World Play Project to enrich lives and enhance social development through football.
AFC President Shaikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa said: “Across our continent, our beautiful game continues to be a beacon of hope and inspiration for people of all backgrounds. Today’s contribution exemplifies the AFC’s Vision and Mission to leverage on the powerful platform of football to strengthen and improve communities.
“Looking ahead, the AFC will continue to expand its efforts with our Member Associations to harness the power of football to educate, empower and enrich those in need.”
The One World Futbol is a breakthrough in ball technology, designed to withstand the harshest environments. These ultra-durable footballs will benefit the MFF’s grassroots activities, and leave a lasting impact on some of the country’s most rural areas.
Expressing his delight, Zaw Zaw, MFF President, said: “The Myanmar Football Federation and our stakeholders would like to thank the AFC and One World Play Project for this generous contribution. In every way, this contribution will enhance not only our efforts in expanding the reach of football in Myanmar, but also provide the most marginalised communities to lead more fulfilling lives and inspire them to excel through football.”
Prior to the launch, some 20 grassroots coaches also participated in a Social Responsibility Seminar, which covered areas such character building, child psychology and gender equality.
Through the unique and transformative power of play, One World Play Project is helping to ensure that the beautiful game continues to be accessible for children and youth of all backgrounds.
“Play inspires hope, opportunity and optimism in the most challenging situations. While the ball technology is unique, the real magic happens when children are empowered to play,” said Rachel Haig, Asia Director, One World Play Project. “The One World Futbol is an amazing tool—able to unlock human potential. Joining forces with the AFC, we are fulfilling our mission to maximise the power of play and transform lives.”
Since the launch of the partnership in 2013, the AFC has donated more than 175,000 ultra-durable One World Futbols to 23 Member Associations, reaching close to three million children, far exceeding the initial agreement and target of 83,000 footballs.
