Mumbai: Sunil Chhetri marked his 100th cap by scoring twice as India registered a convincing 3-0 win in their Intercontinental Cup clash with Kenya at the Mumbai Football Arena on Monday.
It was a win achieved before a capacity crowd of 15,000 as Indian fans responded to an appeal by Chhetri to turn out in full force after less than 3,000 watched India defeat Chinese Taipei 5-0 in their opening match on Friday.
Chhetri had appealed to the fans to support India in a Twitter video and those who did would have been pleased with their team, who are preparing for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019, with the win taking them closer to the Intercontinental Cup final.
