Beijing: Japan finished their group campaign and hoped they would reach the AFC U-14 Girls Regional Championship 2013 East region semi-finals after whipping Chinese Taipei 7-0 at the Chinese National Football Training Centre on Wednesday.
The Japanese are now sitting on second spot in the three-nation Group B and are waiting for the outcome of the last group match between group leaders DPR Korea and Chinese Taipei on Thursday.
Tsukamoto Natsuki, Hirata Tomo, skipper Takahashi Hana, and substitutes Takahashi Momoka and Ueki Riko were all on target for Yoshida Hiroshi’s side with another substitute Kojima Seira scoring a brace.
Hsu Ching-Hsin’s Taipei side are at the bottom of the group and face a mammoth task of beating DPR Korea and at the same time achieving a big goal difference to leapfrog Japan and at least finish second in the group to qualify for the semi-finals on Friday.
Group B standings as of Wednesday:
DPR Korea – 3 points
Japan – 3 points
Chinese Taipei – 0 points
