Hanoi: Long-time Vietnamese goalkeeper Dang Thi Kieu Trinh has played her last game for the national team, with the 32-year-old announcing her retirement from international football.
The decision brings to an end a sparkling 14-year career which has included appearances at five AFC Women’s Asian Cups and SEA Games gold medals in 2009 and 2017.
A three-time of winner of the Golden Ball award for Vietnam’s outstanding player, Trinh’s last appearance for the national team came in her country’s 4-0 defeat to Korea Republic at the AFC Asian Cup in Jordan last month.
Vietnam still have the AFF Women’s Championship and the Asian Games, both held in Indonesia, remaining in their 2018 schedule, but Trinh said it was time for new blood in the nation’s goalkeeping ranks.
