Beirut: Former Italy international Giuseppe Giannini has been appointed Lebanon head coach, replacing Theo Bucker who stepped down from the position last month to join Saudi Arabia Professional League outfit Ettifaq.
Giannini who was previously head coach of Italian Serie B side Grosseto has side a two-year contract with the Lebanon FA and top of the 48-year-old’s agenda is qualification to the 2015 AFC Asian Cup.
Lebanon are currently third in Australia 2015 qualifying Group B, one point behind joint-leaders Iran and Kuwait with two rounds of matches played after a 5-0 loss to the Iranians in Tehran was followed up with a 5-2 home win over Thailand.
