Manila: Vietnam kicked off their 2019 SEA Games Group B campaign with flying colours, while Philippines, Cambodia, Malaysia and Myanmar collected a point each from their Group A ties on Monday.
Host nation Philippines salvaged a 1-1 draw with Cambodia, courtesy of Dennis Chung's late goal, while Malaysia came from a goal down to salvage a point against Myanmar.
Vietnam, meanwhile, sent a warning of their gold medal intentions by beating Brunei Darussalam 6-0.

Manila: Thailand and Vietnam will target not just the 2019 SEA Games Philippines men's football gold medal but also morale-boosting campaigns ahead of the AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2020.
Three places to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics will be up for grabs in January's AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2020, with both hoping to earn spots.
Thailand will be defending the gold they won for a 17th time in Kuala Lumpur 2017 while Vietnam will be aiming to continue their recent dominance in Southeast Asia.
The two will have an early meeting, having been drawn in Group B along with Indonesia, Laos, SIngapore and Brunei Darussalam.

Bangkok: Head coach Akira Nishino isn't ready to set a target yet for Thailand in the AFC U23 Championship 2020 next January.
Thailand will host 15 teams from January 8-26 and besides regional glory, the fourth edition of the Championship is also offering three spots in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The young War Elephants were drawn with 2013 champions Iraq, Australia and debutants Bahrain, who they will play their Group A opener against, in Thursday's official draw in Bangkok.

Bangkok: Uzbekistan will open their defence of the AFC U23 Championship title in Group C following the Thailand 2020 Finals draw in Bangkok on Thursday.
The fourth edition of the Championship will be played across three cities - Bangkok, Buriram and Songkhla - with the tournament kicking off on January 8, and the final to be played on January 26.
Besides Continental glory, 15 of the 16 teams will also be competing for places in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where the top three sides will join hosts Japan as Asia's representatives next July.

Doha: The Qatar Football Association (QFA)’s Executive Committee has decided to appoint Felix Sanchez as the head coach of the Olympic national team.
The Spaniard replaces his compatriot Albert Fernandez, and will also remain at the helm of the senior national team, a position he has held since July 2017.
