Beijing: Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan have confirmed the loan signing of hot-shot Uzbekistan striker Igor Sergeev.
Widely regarded as one of Asia’s brightest young talents, Sergeev has put pen to paper on an initial six-month deal after terms were agreed with Uzbek side Pakhtakor.
The 23-year-old forward’s immediate aim will be to boost Beijing’s ailing fortunes, with head coach Xie Feng’s charges currently eighth – and 19 points behind league leaders Guangzhou Evergrande - in the domestic standings.
Sergeev, who has three top-flight Uzbekistan titles to his name, burst onto the international scene at the 2012 AFC U-19 Championship where the White Wolves reached the semi-finals and he finished top scorer with seven goals.
Sergeev also appeared - and scored - for his country at the 2015 AFC Asian Cup in Australia and was Uzbekistan's captain at last January’s AFC U23 Championship in Qatar.
More recently, the Tashkent-born starlet’s goals have helped Uzbekistan reach the third round of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and book their place at the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
