Dushanbe: Islamic Republic of Iran signalled their intentions with an impressive 2-0 win over Uzbekistan, while Turkmenistan and Afghanistan shared the points as the 2019 CAFA U-19 Championship began in Tajikistan on Friday.
The Central Asian tournament is being used as preparations for November’s AFC U-19 Championship 2020 Qualifiers, in which all five teams will feature.

Dushanbe: Tajikistan will play host to some of Central Asia’s best young talent for the second time in less than a month as the region’s future stars converge on Dushanbe for the 2019 CAFA U-19 Championship, starting Friday.
With Central Asia’s U-16 Championship - won in style by the hosts - fresh in the memory, a slightly older generation of players are set to battle for regional bragging rights, as well as prepare for this year’s all-important AFC U-19 Championship 2020 Qualifiers.
The tournament, which runs until next Thursday, will see each team meet once on a round-robin basis, with the team on top of table at the end of the 10-match schedule to be crowned Central Asian champions.

Ho Chi Minh City: Australia picked up their second win in Group B of the AFF U-18 Championship 2019 when they beat hosts Vietnam 4-1, while Malaysia and Cambodia bounced back with wins on Friday.

Both teams were eager to follow up from their opening wins – Australia beat Cambodia 5-1 and Vietnam beat Malaysia 1-0 – but just 39 seconds in, Marco Tillo silenced more than 4,000 home fans with a fine finish from close-range, before turning provider for Lachlan Brook in the 13th minute for Australia’s second goal.
Tillo then added his second and Australia’s third with another exquisite finish but Vietnam pulled a goal back through Vo Nguyen Hoang’s header just before the break.
Australia then finished things off in the second half when Tillo sealed his hat-trick after bursting through the Vietnam defence.

Ho Chi Minh City: Indonesia and Myanmar continued their undefeated runs in their 2019 AFF U-18 Championship Group A campaigns with wins over Timor-Leste and the Philippines respectively, while Laos secured their first victory on Thursday.

Indonesia, who had defeated the Philippines 7-1 in their opening tie two days ago, continued where they left off as took full control against Timor-Leste.

Kuala Lumpur: The draw for the AFC U-19 Championship 2020 Qualifiers concluded at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday with the 46 teams discovering their opponents.
The teams were divided into two zones of WEST (West + South + Central) with 25 teams and EAST (East +ASEAN) with 21 teams.

Bogor: Victorious Turki Al Ammar revealed his satisfaction at leading his side to the AFC U-19 Championship Indonesia 2018 title, as Saudi Arabia's budding star was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
The attacking midfielder lived up to head coach Khalid Abdullah Atawi's pre-tournament challenge to win the coveted accolade, after he helped his side win the competition for the first time since 1992.
Al Ammar's award completes a rare and impressive double for the Al Shabab youngster, who was also voted the Saudi Pro League Young Player of the Season earlier in 2018.
Earlier in the tournament, Al Ammar revealed Atawi had set him the challenge of becoming the competition's best player and the 19-year-old said he was delighted to have achieved the goal.
