Guangzhou: Marcello Lippi has announced that he is to leave reigning Chinese Super League champions Guangzhou Evergrande.
Lippi, who guided the East Asian powerhouse to three CSL titles, one Chinese FA Cup and, memorably, the AFC Champions League crown in 2013, had been the club’s sporting director since November last year.
"I will not coach in China anymore, I'm going back to Italy, I'm a little tired," he told Gazzetta TV.
"Guangzhou will be my last stop as club team coach. I am going back home for a break."
“But I am still enjoying the job, if I have the chance to coach a national team, I will consider spending one or two years doing that. But if no-one calls me, that's fine too," the 2006 FIFA World Cup-winning coach added.
Lippi's was succeed at Guangzhou by Fabio Cannavaro, who saw his side get their 2015 AFC Champions League campaign off to a winning start on Wednesday thanks to a 1-0 victory over FC Seoul.
