Kuala Lumpur: Thirteen Asian men’s referees began the next chapter in their refereeing career when the New Elite Men’s Referees’ Course got underway on Monday.
The 13 who have recently been appointed as AFC Elite Referees are preparing themselves for higher levels of AFC competitions during the course which is held as part of the activities of the AFC Elite Education Seminar 2012.
The one-day course exposes the referees to the roles and responsibilities of Elite Referees, AFC’s expectations of them and paperwork such as the match and supplementary reports.
The course instructors are Shamsul Maidin (SIN), Ali Al Traifi (KSA) and Esse Baharmast (USA). FIFA Refereeing Development Senior Manager Fernando Tresaco and AFC Referee Director Yoshimi Ogawa are also present during the course.
The new Elite Referees taking part in the course are Wang Di, Ma Ning (CHN), Pau Sai Yin (HKG), Jumpei Iida, Yudai Yamamoto (JPN), Timur Faizullin (KGZ), Noor Mohamed Nagor Amir (MAS), Khurram Shahzad (PAK), Khamis Mohammed Al Marri (QAT), Fahad Al Mirdasi (KSA), Sukhbir Singh (SIN), Gamini Nivon Robesh (SRI) and Masoud Tufaylieh (SYR).
