Qatar Stars League wheels resume turning after a four-month stoppage

Dubai: Action returns to stadiums in Qatar as the 2022 FIFA World Cup host nation prepares for resumption of the 2019-2020 Qatar Stars League season on Friday, with the remaining five matchdays to be played between Friday and August 21st.

With summer temperatures constantly above 40 degrees Celsius, most remaining league matches will take place in two air-conditioned grounds; Al Sadd’s Jassim bin Hamad Stadium and the newly opened Al Janoub Stadium.

Doha: Santi Cazorla is set to become the latest big-name Spaniard to join Qatari champions Al Sadd, after his imminent arrival was confirmed by the club on Monday.

Tajikistan skipper Nazarov returns to Istiklol

Dushanbe: Tajikistan national team captain Akhtam Nazarov has returned to his former home, departing Bangladeshi champions Bashundhara Kings to re-join FC Istiklol.

Nazarov returns to the Dushanbe club on a one-and-a-half-year deal after arriving in the nation’s capital ahead of a Tajikistan national team training camp held this week.

The contract brings Nazarov’s time in Bangladesh to an early end, with his departure coming eight months after he joined Bashundhara Kings on a one-year deal in November 2019.
