Phnom Penh: Svay Rieng were crowned Cambodian league champions after defeating title holders Boueng Ket Rubber 1-0 as the curtain came down on the 2013 C-League season.
The only goal of the title decider came with five minutes of the first-half remaining with Khoun Laboravy firing home a spectacular 25-yard winner to finish the season’s top scorer with 20 goals.
Laboravy was also named the league’s MVP while Sam Vandeth and Am Sovannarath were named best coach and best goalkeeper respectively to complete a fantastic campaign for Svay Rieng, who are now eligible to represent Cambodia in the 2014 AFC President’s Cup.
Meanwhile, Phnom Penh Crown, runners-up in the 2011 AFC President’s Cup, defeated Build Bright United 1-0 after extra time in the third-place playoff. Dutch striker Elroy van der Hooft scored the only goal of the game in the 104th minute from the penalty spot.
