Bangkok: Siroch Chatthong was Thailand's hero as the War Elephants beat Indonesia 2-0 on Saturday and 3-2 on aggregate to be crowned AFF Championship 2016 champions and claim a record fifth regional title.
The Thais not only successfully defended their 2014 title at the packed Rajamangala Stadium but also overturned a 2-1 deficit from the first leg of the final match held in Bogor, Indonesia, three days earlier.
Kiatisuk Senamuang's side opened the scoring six minutes before the interval when Fachruddin Aryanto's clearance rebounded off Siroch and into the net.
Two minutes after the break, Siroch bagged a second when he received an intelligent pass from Chanathip Songkrasin before curling a shot past the hapless Kurnia Meiga into goal.
The victory sees Thailand overhaul Singapore's previous record of four AFF Championship title wins. The Kingdom previously won the tournament in 1996, 2000, 2002 and 2014.
