Zurich: Thailand enjoyed the biggest move in the latest edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking with the ASEAN champions climbing 12 places in the first edition of the global list for 2016.
Kiattisuk Senamuang’s side, who currently sit top of Group E in the 2018 FIFA World Cup/2019 AFC Asian Cup joint-qualifiers, find themselves in 121st position in FIFA’s ranking for January alongside Bahrain, with the duo raked joint-16th on the Asian list.
Bahrain’s Gulf neighbours Oman entered the top 100, with the Gulf Sultanate moving up to 99th in the world and 12th in Asia, one notch in the continental list above Kyrgyzstan, whose one place rise to 107th sees the Central Asians’ reach their best ever position on the FIFA Ranking.
The top ten in Asia remains unchanged from December’s list with the Confederation’s number one side enjoying a two-place rise on the global list while AFC Asian Cup 2015 winners Australia slipped two spots, with the continental champions dropping to 59th in the world.
