Melbourne: The Asian Football Confederation is set to unveil its official anthem at the AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015's opening match between the host nation and Kuwait in Melbourne on Friday.
The anthem, which focuses on expressing the passion and pride the people of Asia have for the beautiful game, is the work of internationally renowned Korean composer, Lee Dong-june.
Commenting on the official anthem, AFC General Secretary Dato’ Alex Soosay observed: “The song is composed of beautiful orchestral sounds with pulsating drum beats which give rise to great excitement.
“The atmosphere at the stadium on Friday will certainly be filled with pure emotion as this song is played in the background, and the teams walk out from the tunnel to march their way to the middle of the pitch. It will definitely add passion to the grand festival of football that is the AFC Asian Cup,” he said.
Some 16 of Asia’s finest football nations will take part in the 23-day flagship competition across five cities.
The Socceroos will get proceedings underway against Kuwait on Friday at Melbourne Rectangular Stadium, with the final set to be played at Sydney’s Stadium Australia on January 31.
