Al Rayyan: Uzbekistan boosted their AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ knockout stage hopes after a 3-0 win over India in Group B on Thursday.

First half goals from Abbosbek Fayzullayev, Igor Sergeyev and Sherzod Nasrullayev secured Uzbekistan the win at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium which took them to four points, two behind Australia.
 
Uzbekistan’s victory means Australia - who defeated Syria 1-0 earlier on Thursday - are assured of a knockout stage spot while India’s hopes now depend on winning their final group tie against the Syrians after two consecutive defeats.

Group B: Syria 0-1 Australia

Doha: Jackson Irvine scored the only goal as Australia ground out a 1-0 victory over Syria at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in Group B on Thursday to confirm their place in the knockout rounds of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™.

Irvine’s 59th minute goal, his second of the tournament, saw Graham Arnold’s side back up their opening win over India with another three points to sit on top of the standings with one round remaining with their Round of 16 spot confirmed after Uzbekistan defeated India 3-0 in the group's second match on Thursday.
 
The top two teams in each group advance with the four third-placed sides with the best records also progressing.
