Pizzi takes charge of Bahrain

Manama: Bahrain Football Association (BFA) has confirmed the appointment of Juan Antonio Pizzi as the men’s national team head coach following the departure of Helio Sousa.

The appointment was announced by BFA General Secretary Rashid Al-Zaabi, who highlighted Pizzi’s wealth of experience in Asian football being pivotal in the decision to hire the 55-year-old.

Morale boosting wins for Australia, Japan; Spain too strong for Vietnam

Melbourne: Manchester City striker Mary Fowler scored the only goal as Australia warmed up for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 by beating fifth-ranked France 1-0 in an international friendly on Friday in front of more than 50,000 fans.

Japan also scored an impressive 5-0 win over Panama while Vietnam succumbed 9-0 to Spain.

Bento takes charge of UAE

Dubai: United Arab Emirates have unveiled the experienced Paulo Bento as head coach of the men's national team.

The 54-year-old Portuguese takes over from Rodolfo Arruabarrena, after the latter’s contract came to an end last May with UAE impressed with what Bento achieved previously with Portugal and Korea Republic.
