Abu Dhabi: Head coach Hector Cuper has announced Uzbekistan's final squad of 23 for their AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 challenge.
Odiljon Xamrobekov, who is tipped to shine, made the cut but players such as Dilshod Rakhmatullaev and Ivan Nagaev, who suffered an injury during training, missed out.
Marat Bikmaev and Sardor Rashidov will lead the charge for goals as Cuper selected only two out and out forwards.

Kuala Lumpur: AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Group F contenders Japan and Uzbekistan secured wins over Uruguay and Qatar respectively, while Oman played to a goalless draw against Ecuador in international friendlies on Tuesday.
The results are a boost for Japan and Uzbekistan while Oman will be satisfied of their defensive steel as all three continue their build-up for the Continental showpiece on January 5-February 1 in the United Arab Emirates.

Tashkent: Odil Ahmedov and Marat Bikmaev’s goals in the second half steered Uzbekistan to a 2-0 win over Qatar at the Bunyodkor Stadium.
Qatar and Uzbekistan, ranked 13th and 14th respectively in Asia, went toe-to-toe in the opening minutes, promising a cagey 90 minutes.
Qatar threatened through Almoez Ali early on but Uzbekistan’s defenders were quick to deny the livewire from making any attempts on goal.

Tashkent: Former Valencia and Egypt boss Hector Cuper was unveiled as Uzbekistan's new football coach on Monday as the country sets its sights on a first-ever FIFA World Cup qualification.
Cuper, 62, whose most recent job was with the Egyptian national team, told journalists in the capital Tashkent that Uzbekistan can be "a strong team in Asia" after he was greeted at the airport by dozens of boisterous fans.
Cuper's contract with the "White Wolves" as Uzbekistan's national team is known, runs three years with the possibility of a one-year extension which would take him beyond the 2022 World Cup in Qatar if triggered.
His first major assignment will be the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 where Uzbekistan are in Group F with Japan, Oman and Turkmenistan.

Hanoi: Qatar defeated Kyrgyz Republic 1-0, Turkmenistan beat Afghanistan 2-0 while Vietnam and DPR Korea played to a 1-1 draw in international friendlies on Tuesday.
The teams are preparing for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 and the matches allowed the coaches of all the sides to have an in depth look at their respective squads before the Continental showpiece kicks off on January 5.

Vietnam, fresh from winning the 2018 AFF Championship, took the lead in the 54th minute through Nguyen Tien Linh.
DPR Korea, however, fought back to equalise through Jong Il-Gwan in the 81st minute.

Kuala Lumpur: Islamic Republic of Iran's Saeid Ezatolahi will miss out on Team Melli's AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 campaign due to an injury.
The 22-year-old player suffered the injury on international duty in October.
Ezatolahi expressed his disappointment at missing the competition.
"I feel really bad about missing the AFC Asian Cup but I have to trust in God. I am very sad since I cannot be at Team Melli’s service as a soldier.
"In the 2018 World Cup, I did my best to make the Iranian people happy but I am ruled out of the AFC Asian Cup and I cannot be a part of Team Melli," said Ezatolahi in a post on social media.
