Group D: Kuwait 1-5 Oman

Pattaya: Oman displayed the pedigree that saw them crowned 2015 champions when they defeated Kuwait 5-1 in their second Group D match at the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup™ Thailand 2023 on Sunday.  

Oman, who beat Kyrgyz Republic 7-0 in their first match, lead the standings with Kuwait and Palestine in second and third place respectively.

Pattaya: Japan showed their class to defeat China PR 6-1 in their AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup™ Thailand 2023 Group C tie on Sunday.

The defending champions can top the group if they beat Lebanon on Tuesday.

Group D: Kyrgyz Republic 2-3 Palestine

Pattaya: Last year’s semi-finalist Palestine pulled off a hard-fought 3-2 win over a determined Kyrgyz Republic in their second Group D match at the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup™ Thailand 2023 on Sunday.  

The West Asians, who lost 5-0 to Kuwait in their opening match, will now have to beat 2015 champions Oman on Tuesday for a shot at the quarter-finals.

Pattaya: Lebanon revived their campaign after defeating Indonesia 12-0 in their AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup™ Thailand 2023 Group C tie on Sunday.

Having suffered a 4-1 defeat to two-time semi-finalists China PR, Lebanon turned on the style to score 12 unanswered goals past Indonesia and now need to beat Japan on Tuesday to stand a chance of advancing to the knockout stage.

Shaikh Salman hails Uzbekistan for historic AFC U20 Asian Cup™ triumph

Tashkent: AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has congratulated Uzbekistan on claiming their first-ever AFC U20 Asian Cup™ title after the hosts defeated five-time winners Iraq 1-0 in the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2023 Final at the Bunyodkor Stadium in Tashkent on Saturday.

Roared on by a sold-out 33,834 capacity crowd, captain Umarali Rakhmonaliev’s successful conversion from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute earned the home side their maiden title. Consequently, the Central Asians joined the likes of Japan, Korea Republic, Saudi Arabia and Iraq as the only nations to have won the Asian title at the U17, U20 and U23 levels.

Tashkent: Ravshan Khaydarov has predicted a bright future for his team after leading Uzbekistan to a 1-0 victory over Iraq in the final of the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2023 on Saturday in front of the host nation’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a sold-out Bunyodkor Stadium.

Captain Umarali Rakhmonaliev scored from the penalty spot 18 minutes from time to earn the title for Uzbekistan as the inspirational Khaydarov added the AFC U20 Asian Cup to the AFC U23 Asian Cup™ trophy he won for his nation in China in 2018.

Mohammed challenges Iraq players to shine in World Cup

Tashkent: Iraq head coach Emad Mohammed is hoping his players can learn from their mistakes at the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2023 and improve enough to make a run to the knockout rounds of the FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia later this year.

Mohammed’s side were crestfallen after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat in the final at Bunyodkor Stadium against Uzbekistan, but the former striker was already setting his sights on the future after Umarali Rakhmonaliev’s penalty earned the hosts the title.
