Choriev relishing Japan showdown

Kuwait City: Davron Choriev is looking forward to facing Japan after defeating Kuwait 3-0 in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Kuwait 2022 quarter-finals at the Saad Al Abdullah Hall on Tuesday.

Anaskhon Rakhmatov volleyed home the opener before Choriev’s solo effort provided Uzbekistan a two-goal cushion followed by Khusniddin Nishonov’s third.

Japan’s Pires determined for final tilt

Kuwait City: Japan goalkeeper Higor Pires said full concentration led to Japan’s comeback 3-2 win over Indonesia, as the three-time champions advanced to the AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Kuwait 2022 semi-finals on Tuesday. 

After conceding early in the second half, Japan bounced back with Soma Mizutani and Sora Kanazawa finding the back of the net in quick succession, before pulling further ahead when Pires scored the eventual winner after capitalising on Indonesia’s power play to set up a semi-final against Uzbekistan.

Tayebi, who starred with his second hat-trick of the tournament, was among six Iranian players on target in the 8-1 quarter-final win against Vietnam on Tuesday.

Young Indonesia have a bright future, says Hashemzadeh

Kuwait City: Head coach Mohammad Hashemzadeh had nothing but praise for his Indonesian side despite crashing out of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Kuwait 2022 quarter-finals after a narrow 3-2 defeat to Japan on Tuesday. 

Samuel Eko opened the scoring at the start of the second half, only for a determined Japan to bounce back to lead 3-1, with Dewa Rizki’s last minute goal coming a little too late.
