Pathum Thani: Thailand turned on the power to defeat Malaysia 3-0 to book their place in the AFC U17 Asian Cup™ Thailand 2023 quarter-finals with a match to spare on Sunday.

The win meant Yemen, who defeated Laos 2-1 earlier in the day, also advanced with the two sides to square off on Wednesday to decide the Group A winners.

Group A: Laos 1-2 Yemen

Pathum Thani: Yemen booked their place in the AFC U17 Asian Cup™ Thailand 2023 quarter-finals after edging Laos 2-1 on Sunday for their second win on the trot.

The West Asian side's passage to the knockout stage - for just the second time in the tournament's history - was confirmed after Thailand defeated Malaysia 3-0 in the group's late match, with the two teams to face off on Wednesday to decide the group winners.

Afghanistan suffered an early setback in their Group B campaign when they fell to a 6-1 defeat against 2008 champions Islamic Republic of Iran and need a result against Korea Republic to stay in the competition. 

With Korea Republic also impressing in their 6-1 win over Qatar, head coach Yosuf Mohandis Zada said his side must not repeat their mistakes.

Chonburi: Saudi Arabia are looking to possibly book their place in the AFC U17 Asian Cup™ Thailand 2023 knockout stage while Tajikistan will be gunning for their first win when the two sides clash in Group C on Monday.

Two-time champions Saudi Arabia overcame Australia 2-0 on Friday at the Chonburi Uta Stadium while Tajikistan came from behind to hold China PR 1-1.
 
While it will be their first competitive meeting, the two sides played a friendly several months ago.

Chonburi: China PR and Australia will be on the hunt for their first Group C win at the AFC U17 Asian Cup™ Thailand 2023 on Monday after both came up short in their opening matches.

China PR, champions in 1992 and 2004, drew 1-1 with Tajikistan on Friday while three-time semi-finalists Australia lost 2-0 to Saudi Arabia.
 
The two teams have met twice previously in the tournament, in 2008 and 2014, when it was contested as the AFC U16 Championship. Australia emerged victorious in both encounters, winning 3-1 and 3-0 respectively.
