S-final: Japan overpower IR Iran

Pathum Thani: Japan remained on track to win the AFC U17 Asian Cup™ Thailand 2023 after emerging 3-0 victors against Islamic Republic of Iran in their semi-final on Thursday.

The three-time AFC U-16 Championship winners advanced to the final with an accomplished performance at the Thammasat Stadium to overcome a tough Iranian side.

That was exactly what Ryunosuke Sato did on Thursday at the Thammasat Stadium as his precise 74th minute strike rounded off Japan’s 3-0 victory against Islamic Republic of Iran and sent them through to the final of the AFC U17 Asian Cup™ Thailand 2023.

S-final: Korea Republic edge Uzbekistan

Pathum Thani:  Back In-woo was Korea Republic's hero as his goal secured them a  1-0 win over Uzbekistan in their AFC U17 Asian Cup™  Thailand 2023 semi-final on Thursday.

The win means Korea Republic set up an enticing final against three-time AFC U-16 Championship winners Japan on Sunday.

Japan remain top in latest FIFA Men's World Ranking

Kuala Lumpur: Japan stayed unchanged at 20th to remain Asia's top side in the FIFA Men's World Ranking released on Thursday.

Australia are the only big movers as they climbed two spots to  27 to occupy third, bumping Korea Republic -  who fell one rung down to 28th  – as Asia's fourth highest team with the remaining top 10 staying unchanged.

Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli scoop Chelsea keeper Mendy

Jeddah: Edouard Mendy joined Al-Ahli Saudi FC on Wednesday as the Senegal goalkeeper became the third player to leave Chelsea FC for Saudi Arabia since the end of the season.

“Welcome Mendy... best goalkeeper in the world,” Al Ahli posted on social media accompanied by a video clip of the 31-year-old putting pen to paper on his contract.
