Qualifiers - Group D: Palestine 1-2 Australia; Saudi Arabia 5-0 Macau

Abha: Australia and Saudi Arabia set up a tantalising final day showdown after notching their third consecutive wins in Group D of the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ China 2025 Qualifiers on Friday. 

Australia edged Palestine 2-1 while Saudi Arabia waltzed 5-0 past Macau, with the West Asians heading into Sunday’s decider top of the standings due to a better goal difference.

#AFCU20 Qualifiers - MD4: Results & Reports

Kuala Lumpur: DPR Korea, Islamic Republic of Iran and Korea Republic emerged as the first teams to book their spots for the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ China 2025 after topping their respective groups on Friday.

DPR Korea were the first to qualify as the three-time champions confirmed their ticket after a 1-0 win against Oman gave them an unassailable lead at the top of Group E.

Korea Republic punched their ticket shortly after, a 3-1 win against the United Arab Emirates confirming the record 12-time champions as the Group C winners while Iran are assured of the Group G top spot after edging India 1-0.

There is, however, still much to play for as 12 berths at the Finals remain available with all to be decided on Sunday.

#AFCU20 Qualifiers - MD3: Results & Reports

Kuala Lumpur: The journey to reach the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ China 2025 continued on Wednesday with thrills and spills across the continent.

To run until Sunday, the 10 groups - five of four teams each and five of five – of the Qualifiers are being contested in a centralised league format.

All group winners, along with the five best-placed runners-up, will progress to the final tournament and be joined by 1985 champions China PR, who also hosted the 2010 edition.

R16: IR Iran's hopes dashed by Morocco

Bukhara: Morocco booked their ticket to the quarter-finals after coming from behind to defeat  Islamic Republic of Iran 4-3 in their FIFA Futsal World Cup Uzbekistan 2024 Round of 16 tie on Thursday.

Iran took an early lead at the Bukhara Universal Sports Complex before but soon found themselves chasing the game as Morocco struck four times in the first half. 

The Central Asian side mounted a spirited comeback to reduce the deficit to 4-3 in the second half but then missed a penalty at the death as Morocco held on to seal the win and will face Brazil in the quarter-finals.

R16: Thailand's run halted by France

Bukhara: Thailand found France too hot to handle as the Southeast Asian side succumbed 5-2 in their FIFA Futsal World Cup Uzbekistan 2024 last 16 tie on Friday.

Defeat meant that Thailand had fallen for the fourth consecutive edition at the Round of 16 stage while for France, Paraguay await in the quarter-finals.
