Qualifiers - Group D: Syria, Turkmenistan shine in openers

Amman: Syria defeated Chinese Taipei 1-0 while Turkmenistan breezed past Northern Mariana Islands 7-0 in Group D of the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2023 Qualifiers at the Petra Stadium on Saturday.

The resounding win gives Turkmenistan an early advantage with only the top team from the group assured of a place in Uzbekistan 2023.

Al Hilal beat Zamalek to lift Lusail Super Cup

Doha: AFC Champions League™ holders Al Hilal SFC defeated Egypt’s Zamalek 4-1 on penalties to win the Lusail Super Cup following a 1-1 draw at the iconic Lusail Stadium on Friday.

The match between the Saudi League champions and Egyptian Premier League winners marked the official inauguration of the stadium that will host the FIFA World Cup Final on December 18.
 
Lusail Stadium will also host six group three knockout stage matches of the global showpiece.
