Kuala Lumpur: The AFC U20 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2023 Qualifiers kicked off on Saturday with four of the 10 groups swinging into action, with several teams enjoying a head start to their campaigns.

There were big wins as well as surprise results on Matchday One so do stay updated with the-AFC.com as the action unfolds over the coming days as the hopefuls try to seal their places in Uzbekistan 2023, with the 10 group winners and five best second-placed teams to advance to the Finals.

Kuala Lumpur: After four action-packed games earlier in the week, just four teams remain in the hunt for the AFC Cup™ 2022 title following the completion of the Inter-Zone and West Zone semi-finals. 

ASEAN Zone champions Kuala Lumpur City FC of Malaysia and Central Zone champions PFC Sogdiana of Uzbekistan made it through their respective Inter-Zone semi-finals, while Oman’s Al Seeb and Bahrain’s Al Riffa advanced from the West Zone semi-finals.

Al Hilal beat Zamalek to lift Lusail Super Cup

Doha: AFC Champions League™ holders Al Hilal SFC defeated Egypt’s Zamalek 4-1 on penalties to win the Lusail Super Cup following a 1-1 draw at the iconic Lusail Stadium on Friday.

The match between the Saudi League champions and Egyptian Premier League winners marked the official inauguration of the stadium that will host the FIFA World Cup Final on December 18.
 
Lusail Stadium will also host six group three knockout stage matches of the global showpiece.

Bhutan cruise past Sri Lanka to revive semi-final hopes

Kathmandu: Bhutan reignited their 2022 SAFF Women's Championship campaign with a 5-0 win over Sri Lanka on Friday.

Having lost their opening Group B tie 4-0 to hosts Nepal, Friday's victory means Bhutan will advance to the last four stage if Sri Lanka are unable to defeat Nepal by five clear goals on Monday.
