Jakarta: An anticipated AFC U-19 Championship record crowd holds no fears for Japan head coach Masanaga Kageyama, who has backed his side to thrive under the intense pressure of a sudden-death quarter-final against host nation Indonesia on Sunday.
After cruising to three consecutive wins in the relatively serene surrounds of Pakansari Stadium, Japan will need to overcome not only the in-form hosts, but a passionate Gelora Bung Karno Stadium attendance predicted to reach 50,000.
With a place in the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup awaiting the winners, the stakes couldn't be higher, but Kageyama said Sunday's clash will be an experience to cherish for his players.

Jakarta: With Sunday’s AFC U-19 Championship quarter-final between Qatar and Thailand looming large on the horizon, qualifying for next year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup is providing motivation aplenty according to the two sides’ respective head coaches.
The top four sides in Indonesia will guarantee themselves a ticket to the global extravaganza in Poland, leaving both Group A winners Qatar and Thailand, who finished as runners-up in Group B, potentially just 90 minutes away from the prospect of rubbing shoulders with the game’s finest.
Rather than being phased by the prospect of failure, Bruno Pinheiro believes the chance to qualify for the event will only spur his Qatari youngsters on to succeed.

Bekasi: Saudi Arabia head coach Khalid Abdullah Atawi has praised the depth of his young squad, after they completed a perfect Group D campaign at the AFC U-19 Championship Indonesia 2018 with a 3-1 win over also-qualified Tajikistan.
The Saudis made no less than 10 changes from the side that beat China PR three days earlier, but still scored three goals in eight second-half minutes to power past a Tajikistan side who were themselves unbeaten prior to the match.
The result was a stunning vindication of Abdullah's pre-match claim that every member of his playing group is good enough to make an impact in the competition.

Jakarta: Thailand forward Korawich Tasa has revealed he is refusing to look any further ahead than Sunday’s crucial AFC U-19 Championship Indonesia 2018 quarter-final encounter with Qatar.
Thailand will face the highly rated West Asians at Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, with both sides knowing that a win would guarantee them a place in the competition’s last four and a ticket to next year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland.
Despite being within touching distance of both a spot at the global extravaganza and continental glory, Korawich insists he remains purely focused on the game against the Qataris – one in which, he believes, there will be little room for error.

Jakarta: Rising star Hashim Ali has shied away from the plaudits he is earning at the AFC U-19 Championship Indonesia 2018, insisting instead that a monumental team effort is one of the key reasons for Qatar’s progress at the tournament.
The talented 18-year-old has shone brightly in Indonesia, starting in all three Group A games for his country and scoring four goals as the West Asians recovered from losing their opening match to the United Arab Emirates to eventually claim pole position and a place in Sunday’s quarter-final showdown with Thailand.
While admitting that he is pleased with his efforts so far, Ali is adamant that helping his team succeed at a competition where they won the title in 2014, remains his primary concern.

Bogor: Head coach Cheng Yaodong has expressed his delight after China PR rounded off their Group D campaign at the AFC U-19 Championship Indonesia 2018 with a 2-0 win over Malaysia on Friday.
Strikes either side of half-time from Tao Qianglong and Xu Yue ensured a winning finale for an already eliminated China, who nevertheless secured their first points and goals of the tournament on a night when Malaysia also exited the competition.
“After we failed to win our first two games, we came into this match looking to restore some pride, and we did just that,” he said.
