Dominant Australia please Blayney

Tashkent: Head coach Leah Blayney was delighted to see Australia maintaining their firm grip on Group A of the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2024 after a 2-0 win over Uzbekistan on Wednesday. 

The win all but assured Australia a spot in the semi-finals and Blayney was pleased with the performance despite her players missing several chances.

Park: Hunger drove Korea Republic to emphatic victory

Tashkent: Head coach Park Youn-jeong praised Korea Republic's fighting mentality after they cruised to a 6-0 victory over Chinese Taipei in their AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2024 Group A match on Wednesday.

Korea Republic led from start to finish to bounce back in style after their opening day 2-1 defeat to Australia.
 
Park had demanded a fighting response from her players and was rewarded with an improved performance at the Do'stlik Stadium.

Tashkent: Australia edged closer to the semi-finals of the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2024 after easily securing a 2-0 win over Uzbekistan at JAR Stadium on Wednesday.

Their second win in Group A means that Australia have a three-point lead over Korea Republic and Chinese Taipei, with the top two spots guaranteed tickets to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Colombia 2024.

Ji'nan: Yokohama F. Marinos edged Shandong Taishan 2-1 in the first leg of their AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 quarter-final contest at the Jinan Olympic Sports Centre Stadium on Wednesday. 

Anderson Lopes gave the Japanese side the lead in the seventh minute before his Brazilian compatriot Yan Matheus doubled the lead in the 69th minute. 
 
However, substitute Chen Pu reduced the Chinese side’s deficit in the second half injury time to set up a fascinating second leg.

Bishkek: Kyrgyz Republic’s FK Abdysh-Ata Kant will take a commanding 5-0 lead into the second leg of their AFC Cup™ 2023/24 Inter-Zone semi-final against Chinese Taipei’s Taichung Futuro next week after a dominant display in Bishkek on Wednesday.

First half goals from Kayrat Zhyrgalbek and Ernist Batyrkanov put the home side in control at the interval and three goals in five minutes late in the game mean Islam Akhmedov’s side will be confident of progressing to the next round despite 90 minutes remaining in the tie.
 
Magamed Uzdenov netted the third in the 85th minute before Mirbek Akhmataliev added the fourth two minutes later and, with a minute remaining, Teymur Caryyew slipped the fifth under goalkeeper Kenya Matsui to seal a comprehensive victory.
