Group D: Japan edge UAE in thrilling encounter

Tashkent: Japan overcame a steely United Arab Emirates to emerge 2-1 victors in their AFC U23 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2022 Group D opener on Friday. 

After a thrilling but goalless first half, Japan opened the scoring through Yuito Suzuki, with UAE equalising just two minutes later only for Mao Hasoyo to fire home the winner for the 2016 champions.

Group D: Sizzling Saudi Arabia cruise past Tajikistan

Tashkent: Saudi Arabia kicked off their bid to win the AFC U23 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2022 title with an impressive 5-0 victory over Tajikistan in Group D on Friday. 

Hamad Al Yami gave Saudi Arabia the lead just before the break with second half goals from Ayman Yahya, Haitham Asiri, Moteb Al Harbi and Abdullah Radif sealing the emphatic victory at the Lokomotiv Stadium.
