A fatigued Vietnam ended Korea Republic’s seven-game winning streak stretching back to their 2020 campaign after holding the defending champions to a 1-1 draw on Matchday Two to move to two points, with the Koreans and Thailand on four each.

Tashkent: Head coach Denis Silva praised his United Arab Emirates team for giving their all to overcome internal issues and secure a crucial victory over Tajikistan in their AFC U23 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2022 Group D tie on Monday. 

A goal in each half revived UAE’s knockout stage hopes as they sit third on three points, one behind Saudi Arabia and Japan. 

Silva said his side was faced with illness that had affected their preparations, and while some of his players were still not fully recovered, they powered through against a steely Tajikistan.

Tashkent: The head coaches of Japan and Saudi Arabia rued their respective sides' missed chances following their 0-0 draw in Group D of the AFC U23 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2022 on Monday.

Japan were the better side in the first half while Saudi Arabia closed strongly after the East Asian side were reduced to 10 men following Shota Fujio's sending off in the 79th minute.

The result leaves the teams tied on four points with Saudi Arabia facing a crucial tie against United Arab Emirates on Matchday Three, while Japan meet already eliminated Tajikistan.
