Bishkek: Islamic Republic of Iran had to dig deep to overcome Kyrgyz Republic 3-2 in their AFC Asian Qualifiers™ – Road to 26 Group A clash on Tuesday to move closer to a place in the FIFA World Cup 26 Finals.

Leading 2-0 at the break, Iran had to withstand a Kyrgyz Republic fightback in the second half before Sardar Azmoun struck the winner to take them to 16 points as they stayed three clear at the top.

#AsianQualifiers - MD6: Results & Reports

Kuala Lumpur: Matchday Six of the AFC Asian Qualifiers™ – Road to 26 was a stunning affair with huge upsets and thrilling wins.

Indonesia revived their hopes with an outstanding 2-0 defeat of Saudi Arabia in Group C while Palestine held Group B leaders Korea Republic 1-1, having also played to a stalemate against the East Asian side in the reverse fixture in September.

Fabio Lima netted four goals in the United Arab Emirates' amazing 5-0 win over Qatar as Paulo Bento's side moved up to third in Group A.

Islamic Republic of Iran survived a fightback from Kyrgyz Republic to win 3-2 as they stayed top of Group A on 16 points while Japan maintained their tight grip on Group C, a 3-1 win against China PR also taking Hajime Moriyasu's side to 16 points.

Abu Dhabi: Fabio Lima scored four goals, including a first-half hat-trick, as the United Arab Emirates handed AFC Asian Cup™ champions Qatar a 5-0 defeat in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday to consolidate their hold on third place in Group B of the AFC Asian Qualifiers™ – Road to 26.

Lima put Paulo Bento’s side ahead in the fourth minute before doubling the lead from the spot in the 45th minute and completed his hat-trick in the fifth minute of first half injury time with a stellar free-kick.

He hit the fourth from the penalty spot in the 56th minute while Yahya Al Ghassani scored the UAE’s fifth with 17 minutes remaining.

Victory moves the Emiratis onto 10 points from six games, three points behind second placed Uzbekistan and a further three points adrift of leaders the Islamic Republic of Iran in the battle for the two automatic berths at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Qatar, meanwhile, remain in fourth on seven points having failed to build on their last-gasp win over Uzbekistan in Doha last week, which looked to have revitalised the nation’s qualifying bid.

Vientiane: Uzbekistan survived a tough encounter against DPR Korea to emerge 1-0 victors in their AFC Asian Qualifiers™ – Road to 26 Group A match on Tuesday.

Having lost to Qatar on Thursday, the win was a welcome rebound for Srecko Katanec’s side as they moved to 13 points to take another step towards realising their dream of a place at the FIFA World Cup Finals for the first time.

Ardhiyah: Kuwait came from behind to force a 1-1 draw against Jordan in their AFC Asian Qualifiers™ - Road to 26 Group B encounter on Tuesday.

Yazan Al Naimat had put Jordan ahead in the first half but Mohammad Daham came to Kuwait’s rescue with a stunning strike from distance to take home a share of the spoils, with Jordan moving to nine points and Kuwait five adrift. 

Korea Republic lead the Group B standings with 14 points with Iraq three behind in second.

Muscat: Iraq returned to winning ways after edging Oman 1-0 in their AFC Asian Qualifiers™ - Road to 26 Group B tie on Tuesday.

Youssef Amyn’s first half strike was enough to seal victory for Iraq, who moved to 11 points - three behind Group B leaders Korea Republic.

Amman: Son Heung-min was on target as Korea Republic fought back from going behind to an early Zeid Qunbar goal to maintain their hold on top spot in Group B of the AFC Asian Qualifiers™ – Road to 26 despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Palestine in Amman on Thursday.

Son struck in the 16th minute to cancel out Qunbar’s opener from four minutes earlier as the Koreans remained unbeaten in the group, with the result moving Hong Myung-bo’s side onto 14 points from six matches.

Palestine, who also drew with the Koreans in the nations’ opening game of the third phase of qualifying in Seoul in September, remain bottom of the standings with Makram Daboub’s side picking up their third point of the campaign.

Riffa: Australia came back from the brink of defeat to salvage a 2-2 draw with Bahrain in their AFC Asian Qualifiers™ – Road to 26 Group C tie on Tuesday.

Having scored the opener in the first minute, Kusini Yengi netted the equaliser in second half stoppage time after Mahdi Abduljabar’s second half brace had nudged Bahrain ahead.

Jakarta:  Indonesia produced a tremendous performance to stun Saudi Arabia 2-0 as they revived their AFC Asian Qualifiers™ - Road to 26 Group C campaign at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Tuesday.

Marselino Ferdinan scored either half of the break to give Shin Tae-yong’s side a historic victory which took them to six points, level with Saudi Arabia and China PR. Australia are also on six points but meet Bahrain later on Tuesday. .

Xiamen: Koki Ogawa scored a header in each half as Japan handed China PR a 3-1 defeat in Xiamen on Tuesday to maintain their commanding lead at the top of Group C in the AFC Asian Qualifiers™ – Road to 26.

A pair of corners late in the first half broke the Chinese resistance, Ogawa putting Hajime Moriyasu’s side in front with a 39th minute header and Ko Itakura adding the second six minutes into injury time from close range.

And while Lin Liangming pulled one back for China PR three minutes into the restart, Ogawa’s second header of the game restored Japan’s two-goal lead and ensured the visitors took the three points.

The win sees the Japanese extend their unbeaten run qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to 12 matches and the Samurai Blue sit on 16 points from six games in the current phase of qualifiers while the Chinese remain on six points.
