Santiago de los Caballeros: Korea Republic suffered a 5-0 defeat against the United States as their FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Dominican Republic 2024 campaign came to an end on Tuesday.

The East Asian side finished bottom of the Group B standings on one point with Spain and the United States advancing to the quarter-finals.

Jinan: Defender Zheng Zheng scored in injury time to earn Shandong Taishan a 2-2 draw in Jinan with last season’s runners-up Yokohama F Marinos on Tuesday in the league phase of the AFC Champions League Elite™ 2024/25.

Zheng bundled the ball over the line in the second minute of added time after Yan Matheus looked to have won the game for the Japanese side with an 86th minute strike into the corner in a frantic finish at Jinan Olympic Sports Center

Marinos had pulled level in the 54th minute through Anderson Lopes as the Brazilian striker cancelled out Cryzan’s opener for the home side in the 43rd minute.

The result moves both teams onto four points from the first three matches and leaves the pair five points adrift of early leaders league stage Gwangju FC.

Shanghai: Shanghai Port sealed their first win in the league phase of the AFC Champions League Elite™ 2024/25 campaign on Tuesday as Kevin Muscat’s side handed Australia’s Central Coast Mariners a 3-2 defeat at Pudong Stadium.

Li Ang and Wu Lei gave the hosts a two-goal lead at half time and, while Mikael Doka halved the deficit just after the hour mark, a late goal from Mathias Vargas meant substitute Nicholas Duarte’s 94th minute goal was only a consolation.

The win moves Shanghai onto four points from their first three games while the Mariners have yet to pick up a point as Mark Jackson’s side have lost all of their fixtures to date in the current edition of the continental championship.

The Spain international nodded in from close range with nine minutes remaining to break the stubborn resistance of the side from the Islamic Republic of Iran and allow Stefano Piloi’s side to move onto seven points from their first three games.

That keeps Al Nassr two points adrift of domestic rivals Al Hilal SFC and Al Ahli Saudi FC in the western region while Esteghlal remain on three points, six behind the leaders with five matches remaining.
