Sochi: Australia go into their final 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Group C match against Peru knowing that a win may not be enough to take them through to the Round of 16.
Group C could come down to potential tie-breaker rules should the Socceroos beat Peru and Denmark lose to France in the final game.
This would leave both teams on four points, with goal difference and goals scored the two next tie-breakers.
Should the Socceroos win 1-0 and Denmark lose 2-1, both teams would be level on points, goal difference (0), goals scored (3) and equal on head-to-head having played out a 1-1 draw.
This would leave Fair Play as the decider, with the Socceroos currently on three yellow cards, while Denmark have received four.

Sochi: Australia captain Mile Jedinak says the team will not be focusing on Group C permutations in Tuesday’s do-or-die clash with Peru.
With Denmark and France also facing off at the same time, Australia need to beat Peru and hope the Danes go down to Les Bleus to progress.
According to Jedinak, Bert van Marwijk’s side are fixed on claiming three points against Peru.

Kazan: Mark Milligan remains confident Australia can progress to the knockout phase at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, backing France to help Australia’s cause by beating Denmark.
The Socceroos head into the final Group C match against Peru on Tuesday with their hopes of reaching the last 16 out of their hands.
Australia not only need to beat Peru in Sochi, but then hope France does them a favour by beating the Danes.
While the French will start warm favourites to get the result, the concern for Socceroos fans is they may take their foot off the gas with their spot in the last 16 already confirmed.

Samara: For the second time in six days, Australia delivered a performance that arguably deserved more than the end result, but the Socceroos will go into their final Group C game against Peru with their destiny out of their hands.
Coming into the game on the back of three points against Peru, Denmark took an early lead through a sweet Christian Eriksen strike, but Australia did not let the setback get the better of them and responded well.
Just as against France, Bert van Marwijk's team benefitted from a handball in the box, with Yussuf Poulsen the guilty culprit, and Mile Jedinak duly converted the VAR assisted spot-kick. From then on, the Socceroos were on top but unable to take advantage as the tie ended 1-1.

Samara: Disappointed coach Bert van Marwijk said Australia have to find "the last part of the puzzle" if they are to stay in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia after a 1-1 draw with Denmark on Thursday.
Australia captain Mile Jedinak hit a second-half VAR-assisted penalty to earn the Socceroos' first point in Russia after Christian Eriksen's opener, giving Australia a glimmer of hope of reaching the Round of 16.
Van Marwijk praised a team that has "improved every day" but bemoaned a lack of clinical finishing after his team missed chances to win the game in the second half in Samara.
It followed a 2-1 defeat to France in their opening match.

Samara: Australia's hopes of advancing to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 suffered a blow when they could only manage a 1-1 with Denmark in a Group C tie at the Samara Arena on Thursday.
Bert van Marwijk's men travelled to Samara needing a win after their unfortunate 2-1 defeat to France in their opener.
Australia battled back impressively after Christian Eriksen's seventh-minute opener but were unable to find a way past Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel from open play despite dominating a pulsating second half.
Tottenham midfielder Eriksen, identified as the dangerman by Australia in the run-up to the game, showed sublime technique to finish after Nicolai Jorgensen's neat lay-off in the area.
Australia's response was impressive but with just one point from two games the Socceroos' chances of advancing in Russia now appear slim.

Ekaterinburg: Japan’s Keisuke Honda's strike against Senegal on Sunday earned him two records - as the leading all time Asian scorer and the first Japanese to score in three editions of the FIFA World Cup.
Honda struck Japan's equaliser just six minutes after coming on for Shinji Kagawa in the 72nd minute with the match finishing 2-2.
In Honda’s FIFA World Cup debut in 2010, he scored against Cameroon and Denmark as Japan advanced to the Round of 16.
In Brazil 2014, Honda found the back of the net in the group stage match against Ivory Coast.
Australia’s Tim Cahill, Saudi Arabia’s Sami Al Jaber and Korea Republic's Ahn Jung-hwan and Park Ji-sung are the next leading Asian scorers with three goals each.
