AFC announces coverage of all national team competitions in Australia

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has today announced that Football Australia has acquired the rights to the AFC’s national team football package for the rights cycle 2021-2024. Football Australia has secured significant broadcast coverage of the competitions with its new broadcast partner, 10 ViacomCBS.

The agreement encompasses all major AFC national team competitions, including but not limited to the final round of the AFC Asian Qualifiers – Road to Qatar, the AFC Asian Cup China 2023, and the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022.

Asian Qualifiers - Group D Preview: Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan set for thriller; Yemen eye late charge against Palestine

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan go head to head for the top spot in Group D of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023, while Palestine face Yemen with an eye on third place in the group.

Unbeaten Saudi Arabia can top the group with a draw on Tuesday, while Uzbekistan must avenge their defeat in the reverse fixture if they are to overtake their hosts on the final day of Group D.

Meanwhile, Yemen have an opportunity to leapfrog both Singapore and Palestine into third place should they defeat the latter at King Fahd International Stadium in the second Group D fixture.

Muharraq: The Group C winners will be determined on Tuesday when Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq clash at the Sheikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium, while Bahrain face Hong Kong in their final match in the second round of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023. 

The race for top spot promises to see a thrilling end with Iraq - on 17 points - two ahead of Iran while Bahrain will need to defeat Hong Kong by a huge margin and hope for Iran to lose to secure second place as Group C goes down to the wire.

Top spot will secure a place in the final round of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, while a strong finish may also see the group's runners-up through.

Osaka: The battle for second place in Group F of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the AFC Asian Cup China 2023 will reach its climax on Tuesday when hosts Japan take on Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan face bottom side Myanmar.

Kuwait City: Jordan will have to beat Australia - something Graham Arnold's side have yet to experience - when the two teams square off in Group B of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 on Tuesday.

Victory is the only option available for Jordan if they are to stand a chance of sealing one of the five places available in the final round of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 with Australia having already sealed top spot as well as a place in the AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Finals.

Should Jordan lose, a win for Kuwait over Chinese Taipei in Tuesday's later match could see them finishing second but whether that will be enough to advance to the final round of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will depend on results elsewhere.

Asian Qualifiers - Group E Preview: Oman in no mood for slip-up against Bangladesh; India, Afghanistan vie for third

Doha: Despite having secured second place in Group E, Oman will target a win against Bangladesh in their final Asian Qualifiers second round tie against Bangladesh on Tuesday while India and Afghanistan will square off for third place.  

While Qatar may have confirmed themselves as the Group E winners, Oman are well placed to advance to the final round of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2022, and adding another three points to their current haul of 15 surely enough to take them through.

India, meanwhile, only need to avoid defeat to confirm third spot with the South Asian side on six points, one ahead of Afghanistan.
