AFC President offers condolences on passing of Malaysian legend Chow Chee Keong

Kuala Lumpur: Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has extended his condolences to the Football Association of Malaysia on the demise of its legendary goalkeeper Chow Chee Keong, who passed away on Wednesday.

He made his national debut at just 15 years old and is widely regarded as the finest goalkeeper that Malaysia has ever produced. Representing Malaysia in the 1960s, he was voted Asia’s best goalkeeper by the AFC for five consecutive years from 1966-1970.

As one of the first Malaysian players to turn professional, Chow featured for a number of Hong Kong sides including Jardines FC, South China AAA and Hong Kong Rangers FC. He represented Malaysia in five Merdeka Tournaments from 1965-1969 and was instrumental in guiding them to victory in 1968.

The thoughts and prayers of the AFC and the rest of the Asian football community are with the family and friends of Chow Chee Keong.
