Asian Youth Games to be held in Shantou, China PR in November 2021

Kuwait City: The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has reaffirmed that Shantou in southern China PR will host the third Asian Youth Games in November 2021.

The Asian Youth Games, which were first held in Singapore in 2011 and then in Nanjing in China in 2013, is scheduled to take place from November 20 to 28 next year.

Tokyo Olympics on July 23-August 8 in 2021

Tokyo: The International Olympic Committee has announced the Tokyo Olympics will be held on July 23 to August 8 in 2021.

The new dates were announced in consultation with the Japan Government and the Organising Committee of the Tokyo Olympics.

The 2020 Olympics had been scheduled to take place from July 24 to August 9 this year but were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Australia committed to sending teams to Tokyo in 2021

Sydney: Football Federation Australia (FFA) has reaffirmed its commitment to work with the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) to send teams to Tokyo next year following confirmation that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and host nation Japan will endeavour to reschedule the Games of the XXXII Olympiad.

IOC President Thomas Bach together with the Prime Minister of Japan, Abe Shinzo, made the announcement earlier this week, and noted that there is an intention to reschedule the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games – which will maintain the same name – by no later than the northern summer of 2021.

Tokyo: The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games have been postponed by one year due to the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus crisis.

Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach, following a conference call on Tuesday, agreed to postpone the Games for 12 months.
