Colombo: Sri Lanka will play Lithuania in friendly matches at the Colombo Racecourse Ground on July 8 and 11, marking their return to the international scene after almost two years.
Sri Lanka’s last international outing was their participation in the inaugural AFC Solidarity Cup held in Malaysia in November 2016.
Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) is staging the friendlies with the theme ‘International Football Is Back’, and FFSL President Anura De Silva said: “We are ready to bring the football momentum back again with our new approach.”
FFSL General Secretary Jaswa Umar has also urged fans to show their support for the home team, citing an ‘all new fan experience’ during the friendlies.
Head coach Nizam Pakirally has total confidence going into the matches, saying: “Our new national team is young, energetic and committed. All I can say is something new will happen that we can celebrate about. Come support us.”
FFSL, which has worked closely with the AFC Member Associations Development department, will be streaming the matches live on mycujoo.tv. Click on the link below to save it on your calendar!
