Palembang: It was another round of high scores on the third matchday of Group A of the AFF Women’s Championship when 20 goals were scored in the two games played at the Bumi Sriwijaya Stadium.
Firm favourites and defending champions Thailand defeated Cambodia 11-0 while Australia, represented by their Under-20 side, silenced Timor Leste 9-0.
After picking up three points against Timor Leste two days earlier, Thailand were all fired up for their second match.
The Thais, who will be playing in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup France, did not take too long to underline their pedigree with Suchawadee Nildhamrong striking home a fifth minute lead, connecting a cross from Siliawan Intamee.
Suchadwadee went on to score three more goals in the eighth, 52nd and 72nd minutes.
